We have been asked by the house owner, to pick up the pieces of a roof conversion, that was sadly neglected by the previous builder.
In order to get the project back on track, we have started the project by getting the addition & supportive joists in place before laying down the chipboard flooring on top of the joists, which are filled with fibreglass insulation. Internal stairs will be made & bought to site & will be fixed into place. The original design had an external dormer strip added to the roof, which would have looked unsightly. However, some great design work by our regular carpenter, ensured that the stairs could be altered and the required head room could be made to put a stop to the knocking about of the external roof !
With purlins soon to be removed & with additional vertical & horizontal bracing to be put into place, we have ARC Welding going to site to put in place steels & post to strengthen the 8m x 5m room in the roof.
Next on the agenda will be the large roof windows, some of which are fire escape windows. With these in place, we will then be able to put in place the PIR Insulation between & over the rafters. With plasterboard added & skim plaster provided the basis of the room will be completed.
Stud partitions, boarded & skimmed will be added. Electrics & Plumbing will be done & the Sanitaryware will be fixed in place.
Cupboard storage doors will be created, making full use of the void & a lick of paint should see the dream become a reality.
Pictures of this refurbishment will be added accordingly.
